Registration Form Learning & Teaching with BlackboardTM The purpose of the CEI Central Region 2001 Spring Workshop is to assist CEI members with developing courses using Blackboard software. These courses can be offered as distance learning courses or as an Internet component of a classroom course. The workshop will be offered from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will be conducted by Rick Lewis, CEI webmaster and Blackboard administrator at Sandhills Community College and Central Region Representatives Anne Helms of Alamance Community College and Clem Welch of Central Carolina Community College. During the workshop you will learn effective practices in teaching online. Each participant will receive a course template that contains instructions for continuing to develop the course after the workshop is over. Each participant will work at a computer and will create an online syllabus and learning activities, a quiz that will be automatically graded by Blackboard, and online discussion groups. You can save the course to your own server at your college once the workshop is over and then can continue to use the course at your school. This template contains features that are not available anywhere else. If you already have a course that you are teaching online with Blackboard, you will be able to enhance your course by learning simple but effective techniques. The cost for the workshop is $8.00, which includes lunch. Besides the registration fee, you will need to bring with you a floppy disk containing your course syllabus and one quiz that is either multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, essay/short answer, or combination of those elements. Although your course template will already contain two quizzes and two surveys that you can keep, modify, use as an example and then delete, you will also learn to develop quizzes of your own that will generate a different set of questions for each student in the class. The workshop has limited space. You will be notified by e-mail that you have a space after you register. Register for the workshop by entering your first and last name and your email address in the textbox below. Be sure to click the "Submit" button after you enter the text. | |
