CEI Archives The CEI Archives section has been redesigned to include minutes of the CEI board, reports from the CEI treasurer, official publications of CEI, and teaching guides. Teachers who have effective teaching strategies are invited to submit their publication to Rick Lewis, CEI webmaster via email. Attach the Microsoft Word document file to the email message. If the document has special formatting, you may also send a printed copy to Rick Lewis You may also fax your document to Rick at 910-692-6918.
Research for Effective Comparisons To help your students gather data to write an effective comparison, go the to Web site of Cars.com. (This site also contains a link to PBS's "Car Talk" programs.) Here you can compare the features of different cars, including performance reviews. CEI now provides a searchable map of North Carolina to locate each college in each region. College addresses are also included with the map, and links to each college's Web site. Click here to view the map.

Writing about Film
"Writing about Film" is now available for CEI members only from the CEI Archives. This teaching assignment was developed by Rick Lewis, Sandhills Community College, for use in HUM 160, Introduction to film, but the assignment can also be used in any class where students are viewing a film. This assignment emphasizes the relationship between plot and theme. Students are guided through the process of analyzing plot and its relationship to theme and also through the process of writing about film. Click here to read the assignment. Writing Guides is a new resource available from CEI online. This site contains links to the online grammar and punctuation quiz series from Capital Community College, an excellent resource for students to receive instruction and practice quizzes to develop effective grammar and sentence structure tools.
