- Abstract: Ask employers for a top skill that they desire in a new hire, and the answer nearly always includes the ability to work on a team. Join us for some tips for integrating process and product to help students learn how to work with others and reflect on their performance.

- Title: "Writing Narrative Essays about Work: With a Little Help from our Friends Stephen King, Bruce Springsteen, and poet Darnell Arnoult"

Luncheon (Helen Powers Grand Hall North: Music will be provided by Strictly Clean and Decent. Strictly Clean and Decent is an acoustic trio that features Patrick Crouch, Ron Shuffler, and Kay Crouch whose blend of brilliant vocal harmonies tops a solid instrumental foundation. They are dedicated to performing a variety of musical styles in an acoustic setting. Their eclectic repertoire includes modern folk songs by American, Canadian, and Irish songwriters; the fiery breakdowns and songs of family and home found in both traditional and contemporary bluegrass settings; and centuries-old Celtic airs and dance tunes. All of this is peppered with a healthy dose of popular jazz standards, swing and western swing music, and a few classic country tunes thrown in to provide a program certain to be enjoyed by all. |

some familiar and some not. One writer, Henry David Thoreau, was not only familiar with the King James Version but also had the syntax deeply etched in his mind. Let’s take a refreshing look at the wit and humor Thoreau applied to the KJV.

- Abstract: "Write On," a portion of the SACS re-accreditation process by Caldwell, trains volunteer faculty cohorts to use writing more effectively in a wide variety of courses. Enthusiastic participation, imaginative redesigns of syllabi, and improved student writing show that this effort is working well.

- Abstract: "HUM 122 Southern Culture offers students the opportunity to make direct connections between their life experiences and the study of history, sociology, literature, and the arts. Through reading, writing, listening, and discussing, students can discover insights into their own experiences in a broader social and historical context and reach conclusions that are immediately applicable to their own lives. This presentation will offer specific teaching strategies and assignments from the forthcoming instructor's manual for the text Southern Culture: An Introduction.
