October 21-23, 2007	CEI Fall Conference 2007 "Pearls of Wisdom: Gems and Jewels for 35 Years" is the title of the CEI Fall Conference 2007 that will be held at the the Broyhill Inn & Conference Center in Boone, NC, Sunday, October 21, through Tuesday, October 23.
October 25-27, 2007	CCHA National Conference The Community College Humanities Association will hold its annual conference along the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas, October 25-27.
November 15-17, 2007	National Writing Project Annual Meeting In conjunction with the NCTE Annual Convention, directors of the National Writing Project, members and directors meet yearly. The NWP Annual Meeting provides a venue for teacher-leaders from writing project sites to learn from each other and become familiar with national trends and issues that affect the teaching of writing. This year there will be more than 60 interactive site development and technology liaison workshops–all conducted by writing project directors, site leaders, and teacher-consultants." November 15-18, 2007	National Council of Teachers of English Join thousands of K-12 teachers, college faculty, administrators, and other educational professionals, as they gather to hear award-winning speakers, attend idea-packed sessions, share best practices, and test the latest teaching materials at NCTE's 97th Annual Convention in New York: Mapping Diverse Literacies for the Twenty-First Century. Jonathan Kozol will speak at the opening gala on November 15, and Amy Tan will speak at the convention kick-off on November 16.
February 21-23, 2008	Teaching English in the Two-Year College The TYCA-SE 2008 Conference, "Kentucky Quilt: Patterns for Teaching and Learning,"will be held February 21-23 in Louisville, Kentucky.
February 21-24, 2008	North Carolina Great Teachers Retreat The 15th Annual North Carolina Great Teachers Retreat will be held February 21-24 in Camp Kanuga, North Carolina. The North Carolina Great Teachers Retreat is an energizing & refreshing event that brings teachers from diverse teaching fields together to explore teaching and learning innovations and solutions to problems encountered in the classroom. The NCGTR is open to all full-time, part-time, and adjunct faculty in both curriculum and continuing education in the community college system.
February 27-March 1, 2008	NADE 2008 Conference The 32nd annual conference of the National Association of Developmental Education, Developmental Education: The New Revolution, will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, February 27-March 1, 2008.
April 2-6, 2008	Conference on College Composition and Communication The CCCC Annual Convention, "Writing Realities, Changing Realities," will be held April 2-6, 2008, in New Orleans.
May 10-19, 2008	London and Paris Trip CEI Eastern Representative Sharon Mills is planning a 9-day trip to London and Paris, May 10-19, 2008. For Cartaret CC this is right between spring and summer semesters. The cost (before Aug. 31) including insurance is about $2,500. This includes round trip from Raleigh, nice hotels with breakfasts right in the cities, transportation to and from airports to hotels, tips, train from London to Paris, etc. For more information, click here.
November 20-23, 2008	NCTE Annual Convention The NCTE Annual Convention, "Because Shift Happens: Teaching in the Twenty-First Century," will be held November 20-23, 2008, in San Antonio, Texas (postconvention workshops: November, 24-25). Call for Proposals are due January 10, 2008, by surface mail or January 17 by email.
