Due to the upcoming patch for Internet Explorer from Microsoft certain features of Blackboard may behave differently after this patch is in place. Possible issues are listed below. Blackboard is working with Microsoft for solutions to these issues.
Certain multi-media files (including Flash, video and audio) may have to be clicked on by the user before they will function. Examples would include instructors who have included Real Media files in their Blackboard web pages. This will only effect audio files that are played through the web browser. The student will need to click on the Real Media box to make it active. This will not effect links that open Real Player to play the audio files separate from Internet Explorer.
An item that contains an equation, or was created from the Equation Editor, will launch a text window that prompts the user to “Press SPACEBAR or ENTER to activate and use this control.” The equation will still render on the page.
Each Visual Text Box Editor (commonly known as “WYSIWIG editor”) will require activation prior to entering text
