- If your professor has asked you to submit a writing assignment through the "assignment" feature of Blackboard, you will see the writing assignment icon followed by the assignment description and a link that begins with the underlined words "View/Complete Assignment," indicating a hypertext link. When you click your mouse button on that link to submit the assignment, Blackboard will automatically send your assignment to your professor's electronic gradebook if you follow the steps below. When your professor completes his or her evaluation, he or she will submit it to your gradebook, which you can view when you click the "Tools" button in your course and then the "View Grades" link.
- To submit an assignment, login to your course. Enter the Assignments section. Then click the name of the folder that contains the assignment. When you enter the folder, scroll down the screen until you see the assignment (identified with the writing assignment icon and ending with the "View/Complete Assignment" link). - Click the "View/Complete Assignment" link to submit your assignment. When the "Submit Assignment" page appears, type a brief message giving the name of the assignment. Then type your name.
- Next, click the "Browse" button to locate the file on your computer. Click the name of your file and then the "Open" button.
- After you click the "Open" button, you will see the name of your file listed in the "Files to Attach" box. Note: If you want to attach a second or third file, click the "Add Another File" button. Wait for the screen to reset so that the "Files to Attach" box is empty. Then click the "Browse" button again to attach another file. If you have finished attaching files, scroll down the screen and click the "Submit" button to send your file to your professor's gradebook. Remember: After you have submitted one or more files, you cannot send another file unless you contact your professor to "clear your attempt" so that you can resubmit your work. You should write your report in Microsoft Word rather than Microsoft Works or WordPerfect. If you use "Works" or WordPerfect, however, be sure to save your file as "Rich Text Format." - After you have submitted your assignment, you will receive an on-screen message that the assignment has been submitted. When you click the "OK" button at the bottom of that screen, you will be returned to the section of your course where the assignment instructions are listed.
- After your professor has evaluated your work, he or she will send that evaluation to your gradebook. To view that evaluation, click the "Tools" button in your course. Then click the "View Grades" link.
- When your "View Grades" page appears, click the grade beside the assignment name.
- When you do, your professor's evaluation will appear. You may read comments in a message box, or there may also be a link to a file containing comments from your professor. Note: If you attempt to open the file from your Internet Explorer or other browser window, you must have the program installed the view the document file through your browser. Otherwise, you will have to save the file and open from your word processing program.
