To give yourself control over your course, you should know how to enable and disable certain areas of your course. You can make the Course Documents button, for example, either available or unavailable through the Control Panel by following these steps.
- Enter the Control Panel.
- Click on the "Control Panel" button.
- When the "Control Panel" page appears, scroll to the bottom of the screen under "Course Options" and click the "Settings" link.
- When the "Settings" page appears, click on the "Course Availability" link.
- When the "Course Availability" page appears, click the "Yes" option under "Set Availability" and click the "Submit" button. The course is now available to all students.
- Set "Area Availability.
- In the "Control Panel" page, under "Course Options," click the "Manage Course Menu" link for the section that you want to enable. For example, if the "Course Documents button is not available for students in your course, click the "Enable" radio button to the right of the "Course Documents" area.
- Be sure then to scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the "submit" button.
- Return to the Control Panel area and click on the "Course Documents" link. Any modifications that you make to the Course Documents area via the Control Panel will be available to students, so long as you remember to make folders and documents "available" when you create them.
- Note: You may also wish to click on the "tracking" radio button so that later you can check to see which students are using which areas. If you want to check only one area, enter that area through the appropriate folder in the "Course Documents" area, for example, and click on the "modify" button beside an item (document) inside the folder. Then click on the "tracking" button.
- The other option is to track all areas of the course at once, either for one student or all students. You use the Control Panel "Course Statistics" link to track the "hits" of one user or all users in one course area or all areas at once.
